Minted + West Elm Art Challenge
For one of the most recent Minted. Art Design Challenges, the site partnered with West Elm; winning works will be potentially sold on both of their websites.
Above are my five submissions; all works started as drawings in my sketchbook. My favorite is the 4th piece -- titled, "Smudges," which was inspired by the black marks made by the end of my mascara wand. I paired the liquid black shapes with tan since it's one of my favorite palettes as of late. Close second favorites are the 3rd and 5th prints; my sketchbooks are filled with cross-hatching clouds like this one above since I am obsessed with the energy that they create.
If you like any of the pieces above, then please follow the links below to rate my work on the scale of one to five (the best!) that they've set; you may also hit the small heart above the artwork to indicate that you "like" it. Voting ends on May 3rd.
1/ The Flight
2/ Stones
3/ Haze
4/ Smudges
5/ Caught

Healthy Competition
Comparing myself to others both creatively, professionally, & personally is difficult to avoid entirely, but I am striving to keep those thoughts to a minimum & instead focus on being a better version of myself.
One of my college professors always told us that "everyone is working with the same twenty-four hours in each day" and that, basically, it is up to you to make the most of your time since all of us have obligations & obstacles that could potentially keep us from completing a project or reaching a goal. Take back the time spent on comparing yourself to others, work with what you've got, & push yourself to continually improve & progress.
---
Do you find yourself competing with others often or do you compete with yourself most?

It's tough to let go of the holidays -- to take down the Christmas tree, put away all of the decorations, get back into a steady work routine, & hit the gym regularly, so I'll be relying heavily on these songs to help me through the transition.

To You & Yours
Though I haven't updated the blog in a couple of weeks and I have been semi-unplugged for the past few days, I hope that all of you have been enjoying a great holiday.
